(Plus, a Real Client Story of Road-Tripping Through Ireland!)
Taking your first trip to Europe is a milestone—one full of anticipation, excitement, and, let’s be honest, a few nerves. Between navigating unfamiliar transportation, managing a group itinerary, and trying to make the most of a limited travel window, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed by the planning process.
That’s where group tours can shine, especially for first-time international travelers. Whether you're heading to the rolling hills of Ireland or the vineyards of Tuscany, choosing an escorted tour can make your experience smoother, more enjoyable, and surprisingly stress-free.
At Alstroemeria Travel, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all travel. We believe in curating the experience that fits you—whether that’s a private, self-guided adventure or a thoughtfully planned solo journey with all the details handled for you. For many new travelers, group tours provide the perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and discovery.
Why Consider a Group Tour for Your First European Adventure?
Group tours have come a long way from the stereotypical packed buses and rigid schedules. Today’s experiences are more intimate, well-paced, and full of authentic cultural moments. For first-time travelers, here’s why they’re a smart (and fun!) choice:
✔️ Stress-Free Logistics
From airport transfers to hotel check-ins, everything is handled for you. You don’t have to worry about navigating foreign roads, coordinating train schedules, or booking multiple hotels. It’s all taken care of—just show up and enjoy.
✔️ Built-in Expertise
With a professional tour manager guiding the way, you’ll gain insight into each destination’s history, culture, and hidden gems that aren’t always in the guidebooks. They’re also there to troubleshoot and support you on the go.
✔️ Great Value
Group tours often include accommodations, transportation, meals, entrance fees, and guided excursions—all bundled together at a competitive price point. It’s an easy way to maximize your experience while keeping your budget in check.
✔️ Perfect for Social or Family Groups
If you're traveling with friends or family, a group tour removes the stress of planning and managing for everyone. No one gets stuck being the “logistics person.” Everyone gets to relax and enjoy.

Client Spotlight: A Birthday Celebration Through Ireland

This spring, I had the pleasure of helping a small group of friends plan their very first European getaway—a celebratory road trip through Ireland during none other than St. Patrick’s Day week. It was a dream trip, but with international travel being new to the group (and Ireland being extremely busy during that time), they were understandably nervous about handling it all themselves.
They wanted to see as much of Ireland as possible—from the energy of Dublin to the charm of small towns like Kilkenny and the stunning natural beauty of the Ring of Kerry—without the burden of planning routes, booking hotels, or figuring out public transit. And because they were traveling as a group for a birthday celebration, they wanted someone else to take the reins so they could simply enjoy the experience together.
After exploring several options, I recommended a 9-Day Irish Holiday Tour with one of our trusted supplier partners. It was a perfect match: a small-to-medium-sized group tour that included:
Round-trip flights from New York
7 nights of accommodations in Dublin, Kilkenny, Killarney, and Galway
10 meals (7 breakfasts, 3 dinners)
Visits to St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Bunratty Castle, the Cliffs of Moher, and the Ring of Kerry
A traditional Irish tavern dinner with music and dancing
All transfers and porterage
And the expert support of an English-speaking tour manager throughout the trip
The pre-set itinerary was a huge relief for my clients. They didn’t have to worry about how to get from place to place or which sights to prioritize—it was all thoughtfully arranged. The tour gave them front-row access to Ireland’s iconic highlights while also leaving room for local flavor and authentic moments.
Behind the scenes, I took care of everything: managing bookings, organizing traveler details, and providing pre-departure guidance on things like passport validity, customs and baggage tips, and applying for the UK’s new ETA visas. My clients had questions—I had answers. And when they finally landed in Dublin, they were able to simply enjoy their trip.
